Founded in 1987 by TMA with a grant from the Texas Cancer Council, the Physician Oncology Education Program (POEP) strives to provide Texas physicians, physicians-in-training, and those in training to become physicians (e.g., medical and undergraduate students) with the knowledge and the skills necessary to reduce cancer morbidity and mortality through collaboration among the public, private, and volunteer sectors of the state.   • Calendar of Events: Find meetings, conferences, Speakers' Bureau events
  • Cancer Programs and Symposia: Check out POEP's clinical programs and symposia for 2008. Most programs carry CME credit, including ethics.
  • Educational Resources and Clinical Tools: Find educational materials and clinical tools for primary care physicians. Many materials carry CME credit. To place your order, just fill out the cancer education resources ORDER FORM.
  • Medical Student Scholarships: Apply for one of the four annual scholarships offered to Texas medical students to attend cancer education programs that occur in the state of Texas.
  • POEP Speakers' Bureau: View available topics and request a clinical program by a cancer expert at no cost to your institution or organization. Programs approved for CME available, including ethics.
  • Web Links: Links those organizations and institutions that provide reliable cancer information and with whom the POEP partners on various educational initiatives.
